A plea for live music

While the lights are going out elsewhere in terms of live music, in altenkunstadt they continue to rely on handmade music. "With our ‘kill the DJ’ event series, we want to show that live music still has its justification. We hope to see many fans who will come and show their support for homemade music and the regional rock scene", says drummer markus rubel, who had the idea for the concert series with his band black daffodils. The young man comes from neukenroth in the district of kronach.
What prompted him to create a festival series in altenkunstadt?? "Nepomuk’ enjoys a good reputation for live music. For years, music lovers have been organizing live concerts here in their free time on a voluntary basis. I think that’s great."
In contrast to the series of events "rock in the forest" and "road to rock, which are also organized on a voluntary basis, will be held at "kill the DJ" taking the somewhat harder line. "But it will not go into the very hard black or death metal corner", the organizer reassures.

Munich philharmonic orchestra celebrates with mahler

Munich philharmonic orchestra celebrates with mahler

In his inaugural year in munich in 2015, the russian maestro still made it to the wiesn in a highly personal way.

His jovial appearance at the oktoberfest in tongued lederhosen was good for the image, but valery gergiyev’s debut as chief conductor of the munich philharmonic was accompanied by fierce dissonance. In a memorable press conference, he had to justify his support for vladimir putin’s expansionist auburn policy and for remarks on homosexuality that critics considered disrespectful.

This year only philharmonic director paul muller liked to be photographed at the wiesn, the "abendzeitung" was allowed to accompany him on the ride in the autoscooter. Muller spoke in a chatty tone mainly about the current jubilee season, which starts on saturday (13.10) with the performance of gustav mahler’s all-dimensions-exceeding 8. Symphony ("symphony of a thousand") reaches its peak in the philharmonic hall in the gasteig. Afterwards there will be a festive reception to celebrate 125 years of existence.

Benno nauth, one of, if not the most important active member of the premich musicians, had not expected this: chairman mario koth presented him with the certificate of appointment as an honorary member. "I enjoy it", said the 60-year-old about his commitment. And: "if there is already an association, one must also support it."
Benno nauth wants to do the same in the future "if his health and above all his teeth allow it" allow. However, it is also possible to work with the "third" generation making wind music. He had set himself a goal, said the trained mason and stack driver: he wanted to be active for 50 years. This anniversary is already coming up in 2014.
Benno nauth was born on 25. September 1964 at the age of twelve founding member of the music society. Since then, says chairman koth, he has supported the band as an active flugelhorn player and has remained faithful to his instrument.
In 1977, although he was not present at the general meeting, he was elected vice-chairman. He held this office until 1986. From now on, he took care of the young people.
In 1983 the band played for the first time at the oktoberfest in hoingen. It maintained a friendship with the music club from ense for many years. That, too, was possible thanks to nauth’s initiative. In the same year, the active players were awarded certificates for the first time; he was also honored. One year later, he could look back on 20 years of musical activity.
In 1989 the band celebrated its 25th anniversary, nauth was awarded the golden club pin. In this time the association had proved by researches, which were done particularly by nauth, a lucklosen, over 130-year-old music history in the place. That was awarded with the highest award of the north bavarian music association, the golden medal on the female blue ribbon. In 1990 the association was awarded the pro-musica plaque, a distinction of the ministry of culture for special merits and longstanding care of instrumental music making. This, too, had only been initiated by nauth’s investigations.
He was part of the recording of the first sound carrier of the band, for which many rehearsals were necessary. In 2001 another recording was made.
Since 1991, nauth has been a member of the extended board of directors of the entertainment committee, and has taken on work at festivities that no musician would have been happy to do. So he was responsible for the kitchen. In 1994 and 2004, he was awarded certificates and honorary pins from the north bavarian music association and the federal association. In 1997, he was always active as a helper in the construction of the music home.
